Griz finish 10th, Ports ties for 15th

The Montana women's golf team opened its fall season with a 10th-place showing at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate, wrapping up the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 308 on Tuesday at the Riverside Country Club in Bozeman.
The Grizzlies shot rounds of 314 and 300 on Monday.
Raina Ports (72-71-76) tied for 15th and came within three strokes of her best collegiate tournament score. Ports was 5-over through eight holes for Tuesday's round before playing the final 10 holes at 1-under, carding birdies on No. 3 and No. 11.
No other Montana golfer finished in the top 30 in the 66-player field.
Freshman Katie Lewis (78-74-75) finished off an impressive collegiate debut, tying for 32nd. Making her Montana debut, Salina Lui (77-76-76) finished 40th. Both were competing as individuals and did not count toward Montana's team score.
Freshman Hope Torres (84-77-74) had Montana's low round on Tuesday, picking up a pair of birdies, her first of the tournament, to card a 74. She tied for 52nd.
Hannah Ports (79-77-82) tied for 56th, as did Kate Bogenschutz (87-75-76). Bella Johnson (79-80-83) finished 62nd, Anna Stensrud (79-84-83) came in 63rd.
Montana State (282-285-281) won the tournament by 15 strokes over CSU Northridge (289-286-288). Gonzaga (288-289-299) finished third.
Montana State's Eva Heinz (62-73-72), at 9-under, finished five strokes clear of the field. Seven golfers broke par over the tournament's three rounds.
Montana will compete next Monday and Tuesday at the Kalispel Invitational in Spokane. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Kalispel Golf and Country Club.
