Sophomore Bella Johnson shot a final-round 76 on Wednesday and tied for 47th as the Bowling Green Intercollegiate came to a close at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Â
Johnson, who shot a 3-over 74 in Tuesday's opening round, an 80 in Tuesday's second round, posted the Grizzlies' top two scores at the 54-hole event.
Â
Johnson's 12 birdies over three rounds tied for the fifth most in the 84-golfer field. She played the par-5s at 4-under.
Â
"Bella played really well. There were a couple big numbers that hurt but she did a really good job not letting them derail her," said coach Jimmy Mee.
Â
"She had a positive attitude and after bad holes, she put it behind her and got back to playing well."
Â
Hannah Ports (77-77-77) tied for 51st, Raina Ports (79-78-79) tied for 64th, Kate Bogenschutz (78-83-80) tied for 74th and Katie Lewis (78-88-81) finished 79th.
Â
"We did not make the birdies that we made yesterday but we did a better job not having the big numbers," said Mee.
Â
"A lot of our bogeys will be eliminated by the rust being knocked off competitively this week and sharpening up our carry numbers and short games over the next few weeks."
Â
Montana shot rounds of 308, 318 and 312 to finish ahead of Providence in the 15-team field.
Â
Texas-El Paso (282-286-295) won the tournament by six strokes over Texas-Arlington (286-289-294). Augusta (296-290-292) and Drake (288-292-298) tied for third.
Â
UTEP's Amelia Fridlund (70-71-69) rallied to win the tournament by one stroke over teammate Nichapas Thawinwan (72-66-73) and UTA's Kamri Gabel (71-70-70).
Â
The Grizzlies won't compete again until traveling to Sedona, Ariz., in mid-March for the Red Rocks Invitational.
