For the fourth straight time, the Montana Grizzly women's tennis team earned a victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

The Griz defeated the Zags 4-3 sunday afternoon at the Stevens Center in Spokane, Wash.

Haley Driver continued her impressive play from last weekend with a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) nailbiter at No. 2 singles. Precious Gbadamosi defeated Kylie Peek in straight sets at No. 1 singles for her first win of the young season.

"My shots were working well today." Gbadamosi said. "We had a great full week of practice and those things we worked on paid off."

Ascher expected doubles play to shift up a few gears this weekend, and it sure did. Sasha Carter and Laurence Pelchat were victorious in doubles play, winning 6-4, and the combination of Gbadamosi and Driver was a lethal one in a tight match at No. 1 doubles, which they won 7-6.

"It was a close match," Gbadamosi said "We were down a lot but we stayed calm and didn't let them have all the momentum. We just worked together and pulled it out."

Ashley Mackey won easily at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1, for her first singles win in 2014. Gonzaga earned two of its team points in thrilling third set tiebreakers. Maddy Murray and Laurence Pelchat both fell victim to improbable 15-13 third set losses.

The Grizzlies will face Lewis and Clark State and Montana State at the Peak in a double-header next Saturday, February 15. The duel against the Bobcats will be the first Big Sky Conference matchup of the spring season.
