It was a quick, dominant start to a three match weekend for the Montana Grizzlies women's tennis team.
In the first time UM has played Dixie State in school history, the Griz dominated the Utah university 7-0. In all six singles flights, Griz players won in straight sets. Every match in flights No. 2 through No. 5 was won either 6-0 or 6-1 in every set.
"It's always nice to get a win, no doubt," Haley Driver said. "Today's goal was just to keep it simple and be aggressive."
Driver played DSU's Stormy Dvorak at No. 1 singles -- winning 6-2, 6-2.
"She was a good player," Driver said. "She played within herself, and didn't try anything too crazy. It was my job to just take what she offered and play smart.
The Griz also swept the doubles point, and freshman Anabel Carbo-Estruch played a one set exhibition match, defeating Courtney Comstock 8-5
The Griz play Southern Utah on Friday at 2 p.m. in a Big Sky Conference match.
"Conference is what we've worked toward up until this point," Driver added. "It feels good to have a bunch of matches and feel prepared. It's that exciting time of the season now."
