Griz drop tight match in Greeley

The Montana women's tennis team, with only Big Sky Conference matches remaining on its schedule, dropped a tight 4-3 decision to Northern Colorado on Sunday at the Butler-Hancock Tennis Courts in Greeley.
The loss dropped the Grizzlies to 2-14 overall, 1-4 in league, while the Bears improved to 3-3 to remain in contention to make next month's Big Sky tournament in Phoenix.
Nathalie Joanlanne and Cam Kincaid won at No. 3 doubles for the second time in four Big Sky matches, taking their match 6-2, but Northern Colorado won at No. 1 and 2 to go up 1-0 on a windy day in Greeley.
The Grizzlies, who needed to win four, won half of the six singles matches, with Lidia Dukic, at No. 2, and Catherine Orfanos, at No. 3, downing their opponents in straight sets. Joanlanne went to three sets for the win at No. 4, her fifth win in eight matches.
Northern Colorado won in straight sets at No. 1, with Anna Battersby defeating Hannah Sulz in a close 6-4, 7-6 (4) battle, and No. 6. Ella Mora topped Kincaid in three sets at No. 5, the final set at 6-4.
Montana is sitting in 10th place in the Big Sky standings with just six matches remaining. The Grizzlies will try to pick up league win No. 2 next Sunday when they play at last-place Portland State.
