Vikings rally, top Grizzlies 4-3

The Montana women's tennis team built a 3-1 lead over Portland State on Sunday morning at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Wash., but the winning point proved elusive as the Vikings rallied for a 4-3 win, their first of the season.
Portland State (1-10, 1-7 BSC) picked up the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 1 and 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Once play turned to singles, Montana (2-15, 1-5 BSC) took the lead, with wins by Nathalie Joanlanne at No. 4, then Cam Kincaid at No. 5, followed by Lidia Dukic at No. 2.
The next two points, won by Portland State, came after three-set matches. Siena Peri pulled the Vikings within 3-2 with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 win at No. 1 over Hannah Sulz, and Georgia Dobell evened the score at 3-3 with a 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-3 win over Catherine Orfanos at No. 3.
With all eyes on No. 6, Taylor Rees topped Stanzi Stuijt 7-5, 6-3 as PSU, which had dropped three of its first seven Big Sky Conference matches by 4-3 scores, picked up win No. 1 on the season.
Joanlanne and Kincaid won at No. 3 for their team-leading third Big Sky doubles victory of the season. Joanlanne improved to 5-1 in league matches at No. 4 singles, while Dukic improved to 4-2 at No. 2, Kincaid to 2-1 at No. 5 and 6.
Montana won't be back in action again until the Grizzlies host Weber State (1-10, 1-2 BSC) on Saturday, April 8, at 9 a.m. at the Peak Racquet Club.
