Wildcats knock off Grizzlies 6-1

Weber State won the doubles point and five of six matches in singles to hand the Montana women's tennis team a 6-1 loss on Saturday at the Peak Racquet Club in Missoula.
It was the fifth straight loss for the Grizzlies (2-16, 1-6 BSC), while the Wildcats (2-13, 2-4 BSC) picked up their second win of the season and snapped a six-match losing streak.
Catherine Orfanos and Hannah Sulz gave Montana an early spark when they won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, but Weber State followed with 6-3 wins at both No. 2 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead.
Dominique Beauvais defeated Nathalie Joanlanne 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 to put the Wildcats up 2-0. It ended a five-match Big Sky winning streak for Joanlanne, who was playing up one spot in the order with the absence of Lidia Dukic, who sat out with an illness.

Cam Kincaid made it 2-1 when she picked up Montana's only victory of the day. She rolled past Sara Parker at No. 4, winning 6-1, 6-2. The win improved Kincaid to 3-1 in Big Sky singles matches.
"I felt like I was flowing today," said Kincaid, who missed practice on Thursday and Friday due to illness. "I didn't practice, so I guess I was just trying to be calm. Maybe those two days let me clear my mind a little bit. I came out and played pretty solid."
That would be as close as Montana would get. Caitlin Herb rallied for a three-set win at No. 1 over Hannah Sulz to make it 3-1. After dropping the opening set 6-2, Herb pulled out a second-set tie-breaker, then won 6-2 in the third.
Devi Hasan gave the Wildcats the winning point when she downed Ana Carbo in straight sets at No. 6.
Even though it was a Montana loss, the best match of the day came at No. 2, where Tereza Pilzova went three sets to knock off Orfanos, who was playing at No. 2, Dukic's normal spot, for the first time this spring.
"It's definitely exciting to play higher in the lineup, even if it's just one position," said Orfanos. "I like to rise to the occasion, so it's fun to have tougher competition. I've played her before, so I knew it was going to be another good match."
Pilzova opened with a 6-4 win, then Orfanos battled back to win the second set in a tense tiebreaker. Pilzova won 6-3 in the third in a grueling match that had Orfanos wrapped in ice bags afterwards.
"I've had a few three-setters this spring, but that one was max energy. My body was cramping," said Orfanos. "I always put as much as I can into every match. That was a good competitor to match up against today."
Pilzova's win made it 5-1, and Morgan Dickason closed out the victory with a three-setter over Milica Panic at No. 5, winning the super tiebreaker 10-8.
Montana's next three matches -- at Montana State, home against Northern Arizona, at Idaho -- come against the three Big Sky teams that entered the day without a league loss on their record.
The Grizzlies will face the Bobcats (10-3, 6-0 BSC) on Friday morning at 9 a.m. in Bozeman.
