Freshman Allie Brock collected her first collegiate win on Saturday, pitching the Montana softball team to a 7-5 victory over Louisiana Tech at the Davis Diamond Classic in College Station, Texas.
Â
The Grizzlies would drop their second game of the day, 6-0 to host Texas A&M.
Â
Montana, which lost to the Lady Techsters in 13 innings on Friday, took an early lead in the first inning on a leadoff home run by Kylie Becker. McKenna Tjaden later singled in a run to make it 2-0.
Â
The Grizzlies would never trail in the game, but the Lady Techsters would tie it at 2-2 with a run in the second, another in the third.
Â
That set the stage for Maygen McGrath to do what she does best.
Â
After an error allowed for an extended inning in the bottom of the fourth, McGrath came up with two on and two outs and hit a three-run shot over the left-field fence.
Â
Her sixth home run of the season, the 18th of her career, gave Montana the lead for good.
Â
Tjaden added an RBI single in the fourth, Julie Phelps an RBI double in the sixth.
Â
Brock held Louisiana Tech to two runs and two hits through five before running into trouble in the sixth.
Â
She was relieved by Tristin Achenbach with two outs and the bases loaded and the score 6-3. Achenbach allowed a two-run single that made it 6-5 before pitching her way out of the inning.
Â
Achenbach pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to give Brock her first win. Achenbach picked up her third career save.
Â
Becker, Tjaden, Phelps and Jessica McAlister all had two hits, with Becker and Kendall Curtis both scoring a pair of runs.
Â
Becker's home run was her first of the season, the third of her career. It was McGrath's team-leading sixth game of the season with multiple RBIs.
Â
One day after falling 17-2 to Texas A&M, Montana faced the Aggies again, this time with Achenbach getting the start.
Â
Texas A&M scored one in the first, two in the second and one in the third before Achenbach kept the Aggies off the scoreboard in the fourth and worked a 1-2-3 fifth.
Â
The Aggies made it 6-0 in the sixth on a two-run home run.
Â
Achenbach went the distance, allowing 10 hits, nine of which went for extra bases, seven doubles, a triple and a home run. She struck out three.
Â
Becker led off the game with a single. Tjaden added a single in the second, Cami Sellers a single in the third.
Â
Elise Ontiveros led off the top of the fifth with a single and was on second with two outs when Becker came to the plate.
Â
Becker came through with her second hit of the game, an infield single, but the inning came to an end when Ontiveros was thrown out at the plate on a close play.
Â
Montana went down in order in the sixth and seventh innings.
Â
Becker went 2 for 3 to finish 4 for 7 on the day.

Montana will face Texas A&M at 9 a.m. (MT) on Sunday.
