The Montana women's tennis team travels to two destinations for three non-conference matches this weekend. The Griz kick off the weekend facing Washington State on Friday and will play Lewis-Clark State the next day in a doubleheader. Â
The Griz (1-1) are set to play at the Simmelink courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse in Pullman to square off against WSU (1-0) on Friday at 3 p.m. (MT). UM will then travel to Lewiston for its final matches of the weekend to face LC State (0-0) on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. (MT) and 4 p.m. (MT) at the LC State Tennis Center. Â

The Griz go into the weekend 1-1 thanks to Big Sky Player of the Week Grace Haugen's performance against Seattle last Sunday. After rebounding from the loss against Utah last Saturday Montana defeated Seattle 4-3. The Griz and the Utes both beat Seattle to improve their records, respectively.
"We're looking forward to playing more matches and working on ideas we learned from our matches last weekend. Always fun to start getting more live play continuously," said head coach Steve Ascher. Â
Montana is 0-14 when playing Washington State with the last meeting being in January 2021. The Griz look to score their first point against the Cougars in seven years. Â
WSU goes into Friday's match with a 1-0 record after defeating BYU 6-1 last week. The Cougars return three upperclassman and bring in four new freshmen. Although Washington State brings in new faces, the team continues to bring experience to the table with fifth-year Michaela Bayerlova who ranked as the No. 25 player in the country once last season came to a close. Â
LC State opens its season facing Montana after posting a record of 5-10 in Spring 2021. The last time the two teams met was in January 2021, when the Griz swept the Warriors 7-0. UM owns a record of 8-1 when facing LC State and has won each time when playing in Lewiston. Â
