Two weeks ago the Grizzlies women's tennis team won its first match of the season in its Big Sky Conference opener against North Dakota. Now after a week off Montana is ready to continue its pursuit of a Big Sky championship.
Â
On Saturday the Grizzlies (1-4, 1-0 BSC) will host Montana State (2-5, 2-0 BSC) at 9 a.m. and Lewis-Clark State (2-8) at 5 p.m. at the Peak Racquet Club.
Â
For the Grizzlies nothing could be sweeter than having their bitter rival come to their Peak fortress for a crucial Big Sky Conference matchup. The Brawl of the Wild is renowned for its intensity and heart that is evident by not only the programs but the fan base as well.
Â
This year it may have just a bit more fuel added to the flame. The Bobcats have started league with back-to-back dominating 6-1 victories against North Dakota and Portland State. Needless to say, don't expect either the Grizzlies or Bobcats to be backing down in this century-old rivalry.
Â
Lewis-Clark State intends to capitalize against both the Grizzlies and Bobcats. Seeking momentum heading into Frontier Conference matches, the Warriors would love nothing more than to upset the Brawl of the Wild by defeating both programs in their home state.
Â
Lewis-Clark State and Montana State play at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Peak.
Â
For the Grizzlies these will be their last home matches until early April. They will be on the road for all of March and won't have another home match until hosting Idaho on April 8.
