Griz take on Vegas for three-match tour

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana women's tennis team takes to the road for a three-match tour in Las Vegas, Nev. The Griz (3-3) kick off the weekend facing Dixie State (0-6) on Friday. Come Saturday UM plays UNLV (3-0) in what will be the toughest competition of the weekend. Montana will then play North Dakota (4-5) to finish out the weekend. All matches will start at 11 a.m. (MT) and will be played at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Live scoring will only be available for the UNLV match.
"We are excited to get three matches outdoors in Las Vegas. The team is primed and ready to get after it," said head coach Steve Ascher.

Montana will be back on the courts, this time in Missoula for its first home matches of the season. The Griz will host Utah State and Portland on Feb. 25 and 27. Both matches will be played at the PEAK Racquet Club.

SCOUTING DIXIE STATE
- This is the first time in recent history that the Griz and Trailblazers have squared off.
- DSU is 0-6 on the year, competing against teams like Utah, BYU, Utah State, and two Big Sky foes, Weber State and Idaho State.
- Head coach Eric Pelton is in the midst of his 15th season with the Tailblazers
SCOUTING UNLV
- UNLV is 3-0 on the season defeating Weber State, UTEP and Youngstown State.
- Three Rebels are undefeated on the season: Salsa Aher, Cindy Hu and Zita Kovacs.
- Fang/Zhao and Aher/Hu are undefeated in doubles, going 3-0 and 2-0.
- Head Coach Kevin Cory enters his 22nd year of coaching at UNLV and owns a record of 350-169. Cory is a three-time Mountain West Coach of the Year and four-time ITA Regional Coach of the Year.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
- North Dakota is 4-5 on the season and is on a three-match win streak.
- Freshmen Lucia Rizza and Nore Heinitz lead the team in singles, carrying records of 6-1 and 6-3.
- Jansson/Sela hold a record of 6-2 in doubles, the most wins of any doubles team on the roster.
- Head coach Tom Boysen is in his first season with the Fighting Hawks.
A GLIMPSE AT THE GRIZ
- Freshman Grace Haugen earned a win in position one last time the Griz were on the courts in Bozeman. Haugen and senior Lauren Dunlap lead the team in singles and in doubles by carrying a record of 4-2.
- After entering her first weekend on the season for UM, Maria Goheen clinched her first singles win of the season at Montana State. Goheen enters the weekend 1-0.
- Juniors Ivayla Mitkova and Olivia Oosterbaan enter the weekend 3-3 in singles.
- Freshman Rosie Sterk goes into the weekend carrying a record of 2-1 in singles and 2-2 in doubles.
- Senior Claudia Reguant holds a record of 2-1 in doubles.
- Head coach Steve Ascher owns a record of 123-173 in his 14th season with the Griz.
