The Montana women's tennis team returns to one of its most frequented fall tournaments this weekend, heading to Boise for the annual Barb Chandler Classic, hosted by Boise State.
Named after "Idaho's First Lady of Tennis," one of the top female players in the US in the 1940s and 50s and a USTA Hall of Famer, the Barb Chandler Classic is set for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 22-24 at BSU's Appleton Tennis Center and Julia Davis Park.
The Griz will square off against Big Sky foes Idaho State, Montana State, Weber State, as well as regional Mountain West squads from Utah State and the host Broncos.
"We're excited to get back into tournament play this weekend. Boise always sets up a great tournament format and the competition is always top notch," said head coach Steve Ascher.
This event will feature a mini-dual competition where teams are divided up into groups of two pairs. Each pair will compete together throughout the competition, playing one doubles match and two singles contests against another pair.
The pair that wins two of the three points advances in the bracket.
